Enough is ENOUGH.

I am watching the national evening news and once again 2024 presidential candidate Nikki Haley has invoked ageist rhetoric to characterize the leading Democrat and Republican candidates for the job:

"They are two old men who are just getting older," she said.

My question is, why is she allowed to get away with it? The media is not calling her out on it. The other candidates are not calling her out on it. NO ONE seems to be calling her out on it.

That likely would not be the case if her comments were instead racist, sexist, or otherwise offensive. But her ageism seems to be getting a pass. And the fact that, according to experts, she currently has no chance of winning the GOP nomination, only seems to be empowering her rhetoric more, as she truly has nothing left to lose.

I'm not sure whether she thinks it's a winning strategy (clearly, it isn't). She thinks the older adult population can't hear her (we can). She thinks we no longer matter (uh, HELLO, we do). Or, she thinks we don't vote (she better re-check those voter demographics again).

Regardless, I think it time we send her a message--literally, an email, a letter, a phone call to her campaign headquarters, even a post on social media--letting her know that her ageism is offensive, uncalled for, and downright WRONG.

It's not about politics. It's about discrimination. And enough is enough, don't you think?
